Troubleshooting Guide
Step-by-step fixes for the most common IPTV issues. Start with the Quick Fixes below — they resolve most problems in under two minutes.
Quick Fixes — Try These First
Fixes 80% of issues instantly
Work through this list before diving into the sections below.
1
Restart your device and router. Power off completely, wait 30 seconds, power back on. Clears stale connections and memory leaks.
2
Check your internet speed. Run a speed test — you need at least 25 Mbps for HD and 50 Mbps+ for 4K. If you're below that, the stream will buffer regardless of anything else.
3
Check your subscription hasn't expired. Log in at billing.thestreamplug.xyz → My Services to confirm it's active.
4
Delete and re-add your M3U playlist. Your credentials may have refreshed. Remove the playlist from your app and paste the M3U URL fresh from your welcome email.
5
Switch to a different app. If you're using IPTV Smarters, try TiViMate (and vice versa). A broken app install is a surprisingly common culprit.
Buffering & Freezing

Internet speed is too low
- Run a speed test at fast.com or speedtest.net from the same device or network.
- Minimum: 25 Mbps for HD streams. For 4K you need 50 Mbps or more.
- If you're below these thresholds, lower the stream quality in your app settings first.
Wi-Fi causing intermittent drops
- Switch to a wired ethernet connection if at all possible — this single change eliminates most buffering on otherwise fast connections.
- If Wi-Fi is your only option, move your device closer to the router or use a 5 GHz band instead of 2.4 GHz.
Player settings in TiViMate
- Open TiViMate → Settings → Player → switch the player to ExoPlayer.
- While there, increase the buffer size — a larger buffer smooths out short network hiccups.
One channel buffers but others are fine
- Switch to a different channel to confirm. If other channels play fine, the issue is isolated to that one stream — it may be temporarily down or under heavy load.
- Wait a few minutes and try again, or check if there's an alternate stream for the same channel in your playlist.
VPN — helping or hurting?
- A VPN can help if your ISP throttles streaming traffic.
- A VPN can hurt if the VPN server itself is slow or distant — try connecting to a different VPN server, preferably one close to you geographically.
- If you're not sure, try disabling the VPN temporarily to see if buffering improves.
Peak hours (7 pm – 11 pm) Congestion is highest in the evening. If streams buffer only at this time, try dropping the video quality temporarily — most apps let you force a lower resolution in channel settings.

App is frozen or in a bad state
- Force-close the app completely and reopen it. On Android: hold the app icon → App info → Force stop.
- If that doesn't help, clear the app cache: Settings → Apps → [your IPTV app] → Clear Cache (not Clear Data — that will delete your playlist).
Subscription may have expired
- Log in at billing.thestreamplug.xyz and check your service status under My Services.
- An expired subscription will cause all channels to go dark — there's no partial access.
Credentials may have refreshed
- Delete the playlist from your app and re-add the M3U URL. Your credentials in the URL are periodically rotated for security.
- Get your fresh M3U URL from your welcome email or from the billing portal under My Services.
Specific channels down vs. all channels
- If only a handful of channels are black but most work, those individual streams may be temporarily offline. Check back in 15–30 minutes.
- If every single channel is black, the issue is almost certainly credentials, subscription status, or your M3U URL.
Try a different app If channels play in one app but not another, the problem is the app itself — not the service. TiViMate and IPTV Smarters both support M3U playlists and are good cross-checks.
M3U URL & Login Errors
"Wrong password", URL not working, max connections
M3U URL & Login Errors
"Wrong password", URL not working, max connections
"Wrong username or password"
- Copy and paste your credentials directly from your welcome email — do not type them manually. A single wrong character (especially 0 vs O, or l vs 1) will fail every time.
- Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces when pasting.
- Lost your credentials? Log in at billing.thestreamplug.xyz → My Services to find them.
M3U URL not working
- Make sure you're copying the full URL, starting with
http://. Many email apps truncate long links. - Test the URL by pasting it directly into a browser — if it starts downloading a file or showing channel data, the URL itself is valid.
"Maximum connections reached"
- Your account is already active on another device. Close the stream on that device first — each standard plan allows one simultaneous connection.
- Need to watch on two screens at once? Add the Extra Connection addon from the billing portal.
Recover lost credentials Log into billing.thestreamplug.xyz → My Services. Your M3U URL and login details are always available there.
EPG (Programme Guide) Not Working
Guide missing, blank, or showing wrong times
EPG (Programme Guide) Not Working
Guide missing, blank, or showing wrong times
EPG is blank after first setup
- The EPG can take 1–2 hours to fully populate after you first add it. This is normal — be patient after the initial setup.
EPG is stale or stopped updating
- In TiViMate: go to Settings → EPG → Force re-fetch. This triggers an immediate update.
- EPG data updates automatically once per day, but you can force a manual refresh anytime.
EPG URL not entered or incorrect
- Make sure the EPG URL from your welcome email is entered exactly, including the
http://prefix. - The EPG URL is separate from your M3U URL — double-check you have the right one for the EPG field in your app settings.
App-Specific Issues

App-Specific Issues
TiViMate, IPTV Smarters, Samsung Smart IPTV
TiViMate: playlist stops loading
- Verify your M3U URL is correct and complete (paste it fresh from your billing portal).
- Clear the app cache: Android Settings → Apps → TiViMate → Clear Cache.
- If it's still broken after clearing cache, uninstall and reinstall TiViMate, then re-add your playlist.
IPTV Smarters (iOS): app missing from App Store
- IPTV Smarters has been removed and relisted under alternate names — try searching for alternate names in the App Store.
- A reliable alternative is GSE Smart IPTV, which supports M3U playlists and EPG in the same way.
Samsung Smart IPTV: MAC address not activating
- After submitting your MAC at siptv.eu, wait up to 5 minutes before trying again — activation is not instant.
- If the activation page isn't responding, try opening it in an incognito / private browser window to bypass any cached session issues.
Recommended app for most users: TiViMate It's the most stable and feature-rich option for Android / Fire TV. Works with all M3U playlists and supports EPG and catch-up out of the box.
