About the Service
What is IPTV, and how does it work?
IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television. Instead of receiving TV signals through a cable or satellite dish, IPTV delivers live channels and on-demand content over your existing internet connection — the same pipe you already use for Netflix or YouTube.
When you subscribe, you receive a set of login credentials. You enter those credentials into a compatible app (like TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or Smart IPTV) on your device, and your channels load instantly. No satellite dish, no cable box, no installer visit required.
How is IPTV different from Netflix or a cable subscription?
Netflix and similar streaming services are on-demand only — you choose what to watch from their licensed library. Cable gives you live channels but costs far more and requires physical hardware.
TheStreamPlug combines the best of both worlds: 20,000+ live channels (sports, news, entertainment, international) plus a full VOD library — all for a fraction of a typical cable bill, with no contracts and no equipment to rent.
What channels are included?
Your subscription includes 20,000+ live channels covering:
- US, Canadian, UK, and international networks
- Sports: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, UFC, Premier League, and more
- Premium movie channels (HBO, Showtime, Starz)
- News: CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, BBC, and dozens of local affiliates
- Kids, lifestyle, documentary, and specialty channels
- Spanish, French, Arabic, and other international language packages
The channel library is updated regularly. If you're looking for something specific, reach out before subscribing and we'll confirm availability.
Is there a VOD (movies and TV shows on demand) library?
Yes. Every plan includes access to a large VOD library with thousands of movies and full TV series available on demand. Content spans multiple genres, and the library is refreshed frequently with new titles. You can browse and search within your IPTV player app just like any other streaming service.
What video quality and resolution is available?
Many channels are available in Full HD (1080p), with a large portion also offered in SD and 720p for viewers with slower connections or older devices. A growing selection of channels broadcasts in 4K/UHD where the source feed supports it.
Quality depends on the original broadcast feed and your internet speed. We recommend a minimum of 25 Mbps for reliable HD streaming.
Legal & Safety
Is IPTV legal?
IPTV as a technology is legal. The legality depends on how it's used. Authorized IPTV providers that licence their content — like Sling, YouTube TV, and Hulu Live — are fully legal. Third-party IPTV services that redistribute broadcast content operate in a legal grey area in many jurisdictions.
TheStreamPlug operates as a service provider offering access to streams. Each subscriber is responsible for understanding their local laws and whether this type of service is permitted in their jurisdiction. We do not make legal representations on your behalf.
If you have concerns, we recommend reviewing the laws in your area before subscribing.
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. We collect only the information needed to run your account — your email address and billing details. Payment data is processed through our secure payment providers; we never store your full card number. All connections to our website and billing portal are encrypted via HTTPS.
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Do I need a VPN to use TheStreamPlug?
No, a VPN is not required for the service to work. Most customers stream without one without any issues.
That said, some customers choose to use a VPN for added privacy, or to bypass ISP throttling on streaming traffic. If you use a VPN, choose a fast server close to your physical location — routing through a distant server can introduce unnecessary buffering. If you notice slowness with a VPN enabled, try disabling it to isolate whether that's the cause.
Pricing & Billing
What plans are available and how much do they cost?
We offer three subscription tiers, all with the same full channel lineup:
- $15 / month — Monthly, billed every 30 days. Best for trying out the service.
- $85 / 6 months — Save roughly 5% compared to month-to-month.
- $150 / year — Best value. Less than $13/month billed once annually.
All plans include unlimited VOD access, 20,000+ live channels, and our full support. No hidden fees.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — we offer a free 24-hour trial so you can test the service on your device before committing to a paid plan. Trials give you full access to all channels and VOD content.
To request a trial, visit our order page or reach out through Discord.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) as well as cryptocurrency (Bitcoin and Litecoin) through our self-hosted payment portal. Crypto payments are processed automatically and subscriptions are activated instantly once the transaction confirms on-chain.
What is your refund policy?
Due to the digital nature of the service, all sales are final and we do not offer refunds after a subscription has been activated. We encourage all new customers to take advantage of our free 24-hour trial first — it's exactly what it's there for.
If you experience a technical issue that we cannot resolve, we will work with you to extend your subscription or find a solution. Please reach out to support before assuming the service can't work for you.
Can I cancel or pause my subscription?
There are no contracts or auto-renewals — your subscription simply expires at the end of the billing period you paid for, and you choose whether to renew. You can stop at any time by not renewing. No cancellation forms, no phone calls.
Pausing is not currently supported, but since the service is prepaid with no auto-charge, you're never billed for time you don't use.
Can I add a second connection to my account?
Each standard subscription includes one simultaneous connection. If you need to stream on a second device at the same time — for example, in two different rooms — you can add an Extra Connection addon for $5 / month.
The addon co-terminates with your main subscription. You can add it from your account dashboard or by contacting support.
Setup & Compatibility
What devices does TheStreamPlug work on?
TheStreamPlug works with virtually any internet-connected device that supports an IPTV player app, including:
- Fire TV Stick and Fire TV devices (TiviMate, IPTV Smarters)
- Android TV / Google TV boxes and sticks
- Android smartphones and tablets
- iPhone and iPad (iOS — IPTV Smarters, GSE Smart IPTV)
- Samsung and LG Smart TVs (Smart IPTV, SS IPTV)
- Windows and Mac computers (VLC, IPTV Smarters Web)
- MAG boxes and other dedicated IPTV hardware
If you're unsure whether your device is compatible, ask us before subscribing — we're happy to confirm.
Do I need to buy any special equipment?
No special equipment is required. If you already own a Fire TV Stick, Android TV box, smart TV, phone, or computer, you can get started right now — just install a compatible app and enter your credentials.
If you're streaming on a standard TV that doesn't have apps built in, the most popular and affordable option is an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (around $30–$50), which gives you a great experience with TiviMate.
How do I receive my login credentials after I sign up?
After your payment is confirmed, your IPTV credentials (username, password, and server URL) are delivered automatically to the email address you used at checkout. This email typically arrives within a few minutes.
If you don't see it within 10 minutes, check your spam folder first. If it's not there, contact support and we'll resend it manually.
How long does activation take?
Activation is instant. The moment your payment processes, your account is created and your credentials are sent. For crypto payments, activation happens automatically once your transaction reaches the required number of confirmations on-chain (typically within a few minutes for Litecoin, slightly longer for Bitcoin).
Can I use my subscription on multiple devices at the same time?
Each subscription supports one simultaneous stream. You can install the app on as many devices as you like and switch between them freely — you just can't watch on two devices at exactly the same time with one connection.
Need to stream in two rooms at once? Add the Extra Connection addon for $5 / month to enable a second simultaneous stream.
Support
How do I get help if I have a problem?
You can reach us through two channels:
- Support portal: Submit a ticket at billing.thestreamplug.xyz/support for account-specific issues, credential problems, or billing questions.
- Discord community: Join our Discord server for real-time help, setup guides, and community tips. This is often the fastest way to get a response.
How fast is your response time?
Most Discord messages receive a response within a few hours. Support tickets through the portal are typically answered within 24 hours. During busy periods, replies may take slightly longer, but we aim to get back to everyone as quickly as possible.
For urgent issues (e.g., credentials not arriving after payment), Discord is the fastest route.
Where is your support team based?
Our support team is Canadian-based and covers North American time zones. This means you're talking to someone who understands your viewing habits, your channels, and your local sports — not a generic overseas helpdesk. We take pride in responsive, personalized support.
Is there a community for tips and setup help?
Yes — we have an active Discord server where you can find device-specific setup guides, get app recommendations, share tips with other members, and ask questions directly. It's a great resource for both new subscribers figuring out their first setup and experienced users looking to optimize their experience.
Technical
What internet speed do I need?
We recommend a minimum of 25 Mbps download for a smooth HD experience. For 4K channels or households where multiple people are streaming simultaneously, 50 Mbps or faster is ideal.
For reference:
- SD (480p): ~5 Mbps
- HD (720p / 1080p): ~10–20 Mbps
- 4K / UHD: ~40+ Mbps
A wired Ethernet connection to your streaming device will always outperform Wi-Fi in terms of stability and buffering, especially if your router is in a different room.
Does it work if I use a VPN?
Yes, the service is compatible with VPNs. If you use one, choose a server geographically close to you to minimize latency. Connecting through a VPN server on the other side of the world will add lag and may cause buffering on otherwise stable connections.
If you're troubleshooting buffering issues, always test with the VPN turned off to rule it out as the cause first.
What do I do if a channel is buffering or stuttering?
Occasional buffering is usually caused by one of a few things. Try these steps in order:
- Check your internet speed — run a speed test. You need at least 25 Mbps for HD.
- Switch to a wired connection — if you're on Wi-Fi, try plugging directly into your router with an Ethernet cable.
- Restart your router and device — power cycling fixes a surprising number of issues.
- Disable your VPN if one is running — try the stream without it.
- Close background apps — other apps consuming bandwidth can affect stream quality.
- Check if the specific channel has an alternate stream — some channels have backup streams in your app. Look for an icon or option to switch quality/stream within TiviMate or your chosen player.
If buffering persists across multiple channels after trying the above, contact support — we can investigate from our end.
What should I do if everything suddenly stops working?
If channels stop loading entirely, here's what to do:
- Check your subscription status — log in at billing.thestreamplug.xyz to confirm your account is active and not expired.
- Refresh your playlist in your IPTV app — open the app settings and force a playlist refresh or re-enter your credentials.
- Check your internet connection — try loading a webpage or YouTube to confirm you're online.
- Restart the app and your device — a full power cycle often resolves authentication or connection errors.
If none of the above helps, reach out via Discord or the support portal with your account email and a description of what you're seeing — we'll get it sorted out quickly.
Which IPTV player app do you recommend?
The app we most commonly recommend is TiviMate (Android TV / Fire TV). It has a clean EPG (TV guide), multi-stream support, a polished interface, and excellent performance. The free version covers the basics; the premium version (~$5/year) unlocks catch-up TV and multiple playlists.
Other solid options by platform:
- iOS / iPhone / iPad: IPTV Smarters Pro, GSE Smart IPTV
- Android phone/tablet: IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate
- Samsung / LG Smart TV: Smart IPTV, SS IPTV
- Windows / Mac: VLC (free), IPTV Smarters
